WEST VALLEY CITY — Championed racer, #4 Lynn Hardy, secured the Rocky Mountain Challenge Series Late Model main event win on Saturday, May 18 at Rocky Mountain Raceways, an ASA Member Track.

With the RMCS Late Model's unique invert start, Hardy, who qualified fourth, quickly moved from the rear of the field to the front of the pack. Hardy went side-by-side with #90 Trevor Cristiani and #22 Jonathon Gomez on several occasions for the lead. Hardy shot down impressive efforts by the persistent runner ups who finished respectively in second and third place.

#2 Dean Walman won the Idaho Sprintcar and Roadster League 40 lap main event after skillfully maneuvering around slower traffic and gaining a significant lead. #44 Austin Hager crossed the finish line in second and #58 Bruce Gillogly in third.

Defending champion #25 Dillion Lawrence asserted his racing capability with a victory in the Comcast Super Stocks. Lawrence bested #44 Al Jones in second and #13 Tim Fahrner in third.

Saturday, May 18 marked the long awaited debut of the Double Decker class at Rocky Mountain Raceways. The racing contraptions consist of two cars welded on top of each other. The top driver controls the steering, while the bottom car controls the throttle and brake. Fans watched with child-like delight as the vehicles piloted themselves around the track without tipping over. The Rollin' and Stacked' team claimed the first ever Double Decker trophy.

ASA Oval Racing will continue on Monday, May 27 with Military Appreciation Night, presented by Utah Buick GMC Dealers. Military and Veterans will receive free admission; accompanying family members will receive half-price admission. Gates open at 4pm, racing at 6pm. Learn more at www.rmrracing.com
