SALT LAKE CITY — Former Utah wide receiver Kaelin Clay was drafted No. 184 overall to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the sixth round of the 2015 NFL Draft Saturday.

Clay is the sixth player selected by the Buccaneers in this year’s draft, joining quarterback Jameis Winston (No. 1) from Florida State, offensive tackle Donovan Smith (No. 34) from Penn State, center Ali Marpet (No. 61) from Hobart & William Smith, linebacker Kwon Alexander (No. 124) from LSU, and receiver Kenny Bell (No. 162) from Nebraska.

He is the fourth player selected from the University of Utah. Utah Corner Eric Rowe was selected No. 47 overall by the Philadelphia Eagles, defensive end Nate Orchard was selected No. 51 overall by the Cleveland Browns, and Jeremiah Poutasi was selected No. 66 overall by the Tennessee Titans.

The speedy receiver and special teams returner only played one season at Utah after transferring from junior college Mount San Antonio College. Clay had three punt returns for touchdowns, which was tied for first in the nation, and a kickoff returned for a touchdown. His late-game catch in the final seconds of the USC game helped lift Utah over the Trojans for the win.

In Clay’s one season with Utah, he had 523 receiving yards on 43 catches and four touchdowns. He was a first-team All-Pac-12 specialist and was named to four All-American teams for his special teams ability, including first team accolades from Sporting News, CBSSports.com and FOXSports.com, and second team accolades from Scout.com.

Clay is most remembered on the national level for his dropped ball at the goal line against Oregon. The touchdown would have given the Utes a 14-0 lead over Oregon to start the game.
