SALT LAKE CITY — Former Utah offensive lineman Jeremiah Poutasi was drafted No. 66 overall to the Tennessee Titans in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft Friday.

Poutasi is the third player selected by the Titans in this year’s draft, joining quarterback Marcus Mariota (No. 2) from Oregon and wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham (No. 40) from Missouri. He is the third player selected from the University of Utah. Corner Eric Rowe was selected No. 47 overall to the Philadelphia Eagles and defensive end Nate Orchard was selected No. 51 overall to the Cleveland Browns.

Poutasi told the Titans that he was excited to play with Mariota.

"I'm excited to play with the guy," he said. "I've seen him in person, and it's an honor to get to play with him."

The Titans reportedly informed Poutasi that he would be competing for a starting role at the beginning:

Poutasi is the only underclassman from Utah to declare for the NFL Draft. Poutasi was encouraged to go back to Utah for another season but said he felt declaring for the draft was a good decision. Being selected in the third round seems to pay off for the offensive lineman.

The 6-foot-5, 335 pound lineman was a second-team All-Pac-12 selection in 2014. He started played in 36 of his 37 possible games at Utah, with 35 starts. Poutasi played left tackle his final two seasons with the Utes. He is projected to be a guard in the NFL.
