COLLEGE PARK, Md. (AP) — Maryland guard Lexie Brown has decided to leave the school after two seasons.

Brown averaged 13.3 points per game last season and was selected to the All-Big Ten first team. She was also voted most outstanding player at the Big Ten Tournament.

The daughter of former NBA star Dee Brown, Lexie says she wants to pursue playing basketball "at a university closer to my home."

Brown played high school ball in Georgia before choosing Maryland over many other schools.

While with Maryland, Brown was part of a team that twice reached the Final Four and won both the Big Ten regular-season title and the tournament championship in 2015.

Maryland coach Brenda Frese says, "We wish Lexie nothing but happiness and success in her future."
