Iona gives Tim Cluess extension through 2019-20

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (AP) — Tim Cluess, who has led Iona to 118 wins and two NCAA Tournaments in five seasons, had his contract extended through 2019-20.

The Gaels have won at least 20 games and made a postseason appearance in each of Cluess' five seasons.

Cluess, who has a 118-54 record at Iona, led the Gaels to the 2012 and 2013 NCAA Tournaments as well as the NIT in 2014 and 2015 and the CollegeInsider.com in his first season.

Iona was 26-9 this season, including winning the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular-season title with a 17-3 record. The Gaels lost to Manhattan in the MAAC Tournament championship game and to Rhode Island in the first round of the NIT.

David Laury of Iona was the MAAC's player of the year this season.
