Here are some initial thoughts from today's 50-14 BYU win over New Mexico State...

-James Lark played great in his first ever start for BYU. Lark threw for 384 yards and six touchdowns. I don't care if it's against New Mexico State or not; if you put up numbers like that, you were playing well. Lark is the sixth BYU quarterback to throw for six touchdowns.

-The BYU offensive line struggled to open running lanes for Jamaal Williams in the first half. The O-Line played better in the second half, but still should have dominated against a below average defensive front of New Mexico State.

-Cody Hoffman surpassed 1,000 receiving yards this season; becoming the first BYU player to do that since Austin Collie. Hoffman ended the day with 182 yards and five touchdowns. No other BYU receiver has every scored five touchdowns in a game.

-The BYU defense started slow but poured it on as the game progressed. Kyle Van Noy was a stud; picking up three sacks on the day

-The Cougar kicking game continues to be a major concern. Sorensen is now 5-11 on field goals this season, and he missed two extra points.
