LA VERKIN, Utah (AP) — A Cedar City man has been arrested after he stole a police car and led officers on a chase that ended in Zion National Park.
The Deseret News reports (http://bit.ly/1NLciUw ) 30-year-old Clayton Glenn Campbell was arrested for investigation of a number of charges including fleeing, possession of stolen vehicles, DUI and reckless driving.
On Friday, a Washington County sheriff's deputy responded to a stolen vehicle report. When the officer was distracted, a man jumped in his patrol car and took off. He was spotted later by a Hurricane police officer who initiated a pursuit.
The fleeing suspect entered Zion National Park's Springdale entrance and officers temporarily lost sight of him. Park rangers and Kane County deputies set up tire spikes near another entrance and were able to stop the vehicle.
