HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — Marshall University is renovating its president's home during the search for a new leader.

Marshall spokeswoman Ginny Painter tells The Herald-Dispatch (http://bit.ly/1KGWQst ) that the $500,000 project will correct some structural issues and bring the home up to date.

The project is being funded by the university and private donations through The Marshall University Foundation, Inc.

The work includes remodeling the kitchen and restrooms, and installing new water, sewer and gas lines from the street to the home.

Painter says interim Marshall president Gary White is renting an apartment in downtown Huntington.

White was appointed interim president on Dec. 29, 2014, following the death of President Stephen J. Kopp.

The president's home was built in 1923 for a former Huntington mayor. The university bought the house in 1971.
