LYNDHURST, N.J. (AP) — Authorities say a suspect with a knife has died after a shooting involving police officers at a New Jersey library.

Lyndhurst police Chief James O'Connor says two officers were involved in the shooting inside the library Friday afternoon that left a 36-year-old man dead.

Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli identified the man as Kevin Allen of Lyndhurst.

The library is next door to a building housing the town's police department and government offices. The police chief says Allen had a knife and a police officer followed Allen inside of the library.

He says two police officers were taken to a hospital to be treated for stress following the shooting.

He says witnesses to the shooting, including a child, were being interviewed.
