WASHINGTON (AP) — An FBI official says it's an example of "what the threat looks like."

Michael Steinbach, the agency's assistant director for counterterrorism, was talking to a House panel today about the arrests of three men in an alleged plot to help the Islamic state group.

Prosecutors say one of the men was already at Kennedy Airport, preparing to fly to Turkey, when he was arrested. They say another had a ticket for a flight next month. A third is accused of funding the efforts of one of the men.

Steinbach told lawmakers that officials are coming across people who feel that their efforts to go overseas have been thwarted -- and they discuss attacks in the United States instead.

Federal authorities have said that one of the men who were charged yesterday had spoken of shooting President Barack Obama in order to "strike fear in the hearts of infidels."
