BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho lawmakers who spent last summer dissecting some of the state's most contentious issues have yet to submit legislation to the Idaho Legislature, but key leaders remain hopeful proposals will be finalized before the end of the session. Four legislative interim committees are expected to meet at least once more before submitting recommendations on public defense, school broadband, urban renewal and state contracts.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A bill that would allow public utilities to keep blueprints and other documents secret from the public has passed is first hurdle in the Idaho Legislature. The proposal would exempt the public from seeing emergency response plans, computer and telecommunication systems and building blueprints.

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded the next five-year nuclear cleanup contract for a site in the Idaho desert. The Post Register reports that a contractor team led by Texas-based Fluor Corp. will be responsible for cleaning toxic and radioactive contamination and other duties at the site west of Idaho Falls.

BELLEVUE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is feeding elk in four areas of south-central Idaho in hopes of keeping them off roadways and away from hay stacks and cattle operations. The Times-News reports that residents in the Wood River Valley are asked not to feed elk or stop them from moving on to the Fish and Game feeding areas.
