MEXICO CITY (AP) — A fire in a brewery's warehouse sent a towering black plume of smoke pouring into the sky above Mexico City on Sunday, but officials said there were no reported injuries.
The blaze erupted amid cardboard and wood at a warehouse of the Cerveceria Modelo in the northwestern part of the city, sending a dense column of smoke billowing over the city shortly after 10 a.m. (11 a.m. EDT; 1500 GMT), but Fausto Lugo, the city's secretary of civil defense, told radio Formato 21 that it was quickly brought under control.
He said there were no injuries, though some neighbors were evacuated.
