SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Apr 21, 2014--Announcement: ASU/GSV Education Summit Scottsdale Arizona

Copley Retention Systems, a provider of student retention software services, announced that the Wisconsin HOPE Lab will conduct a program evaluation of Copley’s software to examine whether a technological study platform can increase academic success by increasing peer interaction and building social capital. This efficacy study will incorporate data over a two-year period from ten colleges and universities across the country. The Wisconsin HOPE Lab is housed within the Department of Educational Policy Studies in the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Copley is a student success platform addressing the problems of persistence and retention by integrating early identification of at-risk students with the myriad of university technology solutions. The platform manages and tracks the delivery of high impact practices for remediation and intervention services by alerting the institution’s support staff when students are identified as needing additional support. The Copley platform provides the infrastructure and tools to schedule and deliver effective support services on demand while simultaneously tracking student engagement and staff delivery of services. Institutions receive real-time data and reporting that are combined with predictive analytics to enable schools to customize the platform to support their campus needs based on best practices.

At the ASU/GSV Education Summit, Copley investor Mark Cuban will participate in a discussion on the student persistence and retention challenge with Dr. Sara Goldrick-Rab, founding director of the Wisconsin HOPE Lab. Mr. Cuban reports that, “We look forward to this project with the Wisconsin HOPE Lab aimed at validating the tangible increases in student success that we have seen in schools and students using Copley.”

Dr. Sara Goldrick–Rab, Associate Professor of Educational Policy Studies and Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is founding director of the Wisconsin HOPE Lab. She received the 2014 Early Career Award from the American Educational Research Association for her rigorous research in higher education. She says, “Copley’s approach to student success is intriguing, using advanced technologies to implement high-impact practices to help undergraduates who need assistance in getting ahead. Our preliminary research at one Wisconsin college suggests that further investigation is merited in order to establish the platform’s effects. We are excited about this efficacy evaluation and its potential to bring new and relevant information to the field.”
