JEONGSEON, South Korea (AP) — Kjetil Jansrud led the opening training session for a World Cup downhill on the course that will be used for the 2018 Pyeongchang Olympics.

Jansrud of Norway, who won the season-long World Cup title in downhill last season, clocked 1 minute, 42.65 seconds Thursday down the newly developed Jeangseon piste for a 0.13-second lead over Romed Baumann of Austria.

In perfect conditions — sunny and cold — recent Kitzbuehel winner Peter Fill of Italy was third, 0.35 behind.

Americans Andrew Weibrecht and Travis Ganong tied for fourth and Steven Nyman, another American, was sixth.

Another training session is scheduled for Friday, followed by the downhill race Saturday and a super-G on Sunday.

This is the first of 28 test events for the next Winter Olympics.
