HAMBURG, Germany (AP) — The city of Kiel will host sailing events if Hamburg wins the bid to stage the 2024 Summer Olympics.
The German Olympic committee, the city of Hamburg and the German sailing union announced the venue on Monday.
Luebeck, Rostock and Cuxhaven were also in the running.
Kiel is less than 100 kilometers (60 miles) north of Hamburg, on the Baltic Sea. It already staged the 1936 and 1972 Olympic sailing events, when the hosting cities were Berlin and Munich, respectively.
Germany has not held the Olympics since 1972.
