LONDON (AP) — Patrick Reed says he has withdrawn from the PGA Championship at Wentworth and the Irish Open.

The 25-year-old American was due to play at the European Tour's flagship event at Wentworth for the first time on Thursday before competing in Ireland next week at a tournament hosted by Rory McIlroy. But he now says he "will not be able to travel overseas at this time."

Reed, who became a member of the European Tour at the start of the season, is now listed in the field for the Invitational at Colonial in the United States this week.

Reed says in a statement that he is "really looking forward to playing on the European Tour this year" and is "disappointed to withdraw from Wentworth and the Irish Open."
