ASHBURN, Va. (AP) — Washington Redskins starting cornerback Chris Culliver is heading to injured reserve after tearing ligaments in his right knee.

Coach Jay Gruden says Friday that Culliver tore his ACL and MCL in practice Thursday.

Gruden calls it "just a fluke deal," adding that Culliver "went up for a ball, landed on (the knee) and it tore."

Washington's other starting cornerback, Bashaud Breeland, sat out practice Friday with a fever and was listed as questionable for Sunday, when the Redskins (4-6) host the New York Giants (5-5), with first place in the NFC East at stake.

Gruden said about Breeland: "Hopefully it's just a 24-hour bug or something like that."

In other Redskins news, safety Trenton Robinson is out with a hurt hamstring and linebacker Keenan Robinson is questionable with a neck injury.
