SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Three University of California researchers are the winners of a national young scientist award that carry a cash prize of $250,000 each.
The awards are given annually by the Blavatnik Family Foundation and administered by the New York Academy of Sciences.
The winners are Christopher J. Chang, a 41-year-old professor of chemistry and biology at the University of California, Berkeley; Edward F. Chang, a 39-year-old associate professor in residence of neurological surgery and physiology at the University of California, San Francisco; and Syed A. Jafar, a 39-year-old professor of electrical engineering and computer science at the University of California, Irvine.
Winners were selected from a pool of 300 nominations. Nominees must be 42 years old or younger.
