SLEEPY TIMES — We’ve all been there, those days where you just can’t get out of bed.

OK, for some of us that’s still every day, and if you’re a teenager you are an expert at lingering in bed for hours and hours in the amazing kind of sleep that you will probably only have as a teenager. (Enjoy it while you can.)

But if you’re an adult with a job, it’s probably necessary to get out of bed no matter how cozy you are, and we devise all sorts of tricks to make it happen. We set multiple alarms from multiple sources, we put alarm clocks across the room to force getting out of bed, and all sorts of companies devise all sorts of alarms to “trick” you out of bed. All you have to do is search alarms on Kickstarter to see things like this clock that requires you to punch in a passcode in the other room to turn an alarm off.

It turns out there’s good news to help wake you up if you already have a significant other, a large dog and a laser pointer, as seen in this video. As you will see, dogs (and many other animals like birds, fish and even spiders) are just as curious about following a laser pointer as a cat. But instead of swiping at a bright dot like a cat would, dogs tend to use more force. And if it’s a large dog chasing a laser pointed at a pile of blankets covering a slumbering human … you see where I’m going with this.

And so did the poor fellow in the video, who I’m sure is wide awake after his experience with a dog and a laser pointer.

This video was originally posted a year ago, but has recently gained the attention of the Internet, garnering almost 70,000 new views overnight.
