SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah's public colleges and universities are seeing a surge in enrollment this fall as many Mormon missionaries return home. Higher education officials say Utah Valley University had a six percent increase in students, making it the largest institution of higher learning in the state. Southern Utah University saw the largest gain, with 16 percent more students enrolling than last year.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The pressure is on Rep. Paul Ryan, the GOP's 2012 vice presidential pick, to run for House speaker in the chaotic aftermath of Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy's astonishing decision to abandon his campaign for the post. Rep.
