CHRIS BROWN TRIAL ON HOLD FOR MONTHS

WASHINGTON (AP) — Singer Chris Brown likely won't see the inside of a Washington D.C. courtroom for months. But it looks like he will continue to see the inside of his jail cell in Los Angeles. The assault case in the nation's capital is on hold — for between 6 months and a year. That's because prosecutors have refused to grant immunity to Brown's bodyguard. Christopher Hollosy (hoh-LOH'-see) was convicted in the same incident this week — and he was supposed to testify at Brown's trial. Prosecutors don't believe his claim that he was the only person who struck the victim — and the bodyguard's attorney doesn't want his testimony to affect the appeals process. Meanwhile, Brown will be headed back to LA in the custody of federal marshals — who had transported him cross-country last month in anticipation of his D.C. trial. Brown was put in jail after being kicked out of rehab, part of his probation in his 2009 beating of Rihanna.

JUSTIN BIEBER'S TRIAL DELAYED UNTIL SUMMER

MIAMI (AP) — Police say he was drag racing — but Justin Bieber's trial stemming from that incident is now on the slow track. A judge in Miami has delayed The Beeb's trial until July. He wasn't charged with the drag racing police say he was involved in with a friend and fellow singer — but Bieber faces charges of driving under the influence, resisting arrest without violence and driving with an expired license. Prosecutors agreed with a defense request for more time to examine the evidence — and consider whether to accept a possible plea deal.

JUSTIN BIEBER APOLOGIZES FOR PRAYING AT JAPANESE WAR SHRINE

TOKYO (AP) — Justin Bieber says he's sorry for offending people by praying at a Japanese war shrine. The Yasukuni shrine honors Japan's 2.5 million war dead — including 14 convicted war criminals. China and South Korea see the Shinto shrine as a symbol of Japan's past militarism — and consider visits to see it offensive. Two photos posted Tuesday on Instagram show Bieber praying outside the shrine, which upset China and people posting on social media. In a new Instagram post yesterday, Bieber says he saw the shrine and asked his driver to stop there. He says he thought the shrine was just a place to pray.

JOHN RICH STALKER GETS WARNING

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Stop messing around — or end up in jail. That's the blunt warning a Nashville judge has given a man accused of stalking country music singer John Rich. The Tennessean reports the judge told Mark "Chris" Sevier he had to stop breaking rules the court has told him to follow, or risk incarceration. Sevier faces two counts of aggravated stalking and one count of criminal impersonation after being accused of stalking Rich and then stalking a 17-year-old girl separately from the music star. He has pleaded not guilty, is free on bond — and awaiting trial in October.

''AMERICAN IDOL" GOES COUNTRY AND ROCK

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Keith Urban got his first boos as a judge on "American Idol" last night. He was booed for saying Alex Preston failed to dominate with his version of "Animal." He got booed again for saying he hated the arrangement Jessica Meuse (MYOOS) gave to "Jolene." Jennifer Lopez got what she calls "goosies" twice last night: once for Sam Woolf on "It's Time" and once for Jena (JEE'-nah) Irene's version of "So Small." The judges had just lukewarm marks for CJ Harris. They were practically giving high-fives to Caleb Johnson for losing his microphone stand but still managing to stay on the beat on "Sting Me."

ROCK HALL NAMES JIMI HENDRIX AT MONTEREY THE GREATEST FESTIVAL MOMENT

CLEVELAND (AP) — What's the greatest performance at a music festival? According to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it's Jimi Hendrix at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967, when he set his guitar on fire. The Rock Hall asked fans to vote on their favorite moments and that one topped the list. Big Brother and the Holding Company's set at that same festival is number two. Queen's set at Live Aid in 1985 comes in third. Santana at Woodstock is number four. The moment when Bob Dylan "went electric" at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival was number five. Otis Redding at Monterey was number six, Nine Inch Nails at Woodstock '94 was seventh, and Sly and the Family Stone at the original Woodstock was number eight. U2 at Live Aid was number nine, and Muddy Waters at the 1960 Newport Jazz Festival was tenth. The Rock Hall museum will open an exhibit on music festivals tomorrow.

ROAD AND BRIDGE RENAMED FOR DUANE ALLEN OF OAK RIDGE BOYS

PARIS, Tex. (AP) — The road that runs just a few hundred yards past where Duane Allen of the Oak Ridge Boys was born is now named after him. A bridge was also renamed for Allen during a ceremony near Paris, Texas, last week. Allen says he used to ride his bike over that bridge to get to school, and having that named for him is better than if the Golden Gate Bridge had been renamed for him. Just to show he still cares about the community, Allen requested that the new road signs be put up in conjunction with the existing ones, so residents don't have to change their address.

The move's considered a big deal for the Forum — the fabled venue near the LA airport — which recently got a $100 million facelift. It's now the largest indoor entertainment venue in the country.
