(Las Vegas-AP) -- A Las Vegas man is charged with killing a Utah tourist after police say the victim left a hotel on the Strip and went to one of the city's roughest neighborhoods to buy drugs.
25-year-old Shod Walker was arrested yesterday -- two weeks after the slaying of 39-year-old Simone Hirst.
She was a former model from Park City, Utah, who was found bludgeoned to death a few blocks east of downtown's Fremont Street Experience casino.
Police say Hirst was intoxicated and quarreled with her boyfriend before leaving him early April 28th at the Bellagio hotel-casino.
They say she took one taxi to Binion's Horseshoe hotel-casino -- and another to 15th and Fremont streets to buy crack.
That's where police say she met Walker.
Hirst's body was found a few hours later in an alley.
