WEST VALLEY CITY -- A fight over a girlfriend led to a stabbing death in West Valley City.

It happened near 3600 South and 5450 West. The victim lived across the street from his former girlfriend. Police say when her new boyfriend showed up Thursday morning, the two men got into an argument.

West Valley City police Lt. Bill Merritt said, "The officers here on scene were able to determine that there was a fight that broke out between two houses. There was two people involved. It was kind of a mutual combat thing, and it escalated to the point that one person brought out a knife and stabbed our victim."

When police arrived on the scene, the suspect, 28-year-old Justin Guymon, had left with his girlfriend. Sandy police later found Guymon and arrested him.

The victim died at Pioneer Valley Hospital.
