Matheson Formally Seeks Re-Election

(Salt Lake City-AP) -- U-S Representative Jim Matheson has officially launched his re-election campaign.

Matheson filed for a third term with the Utah Lieutenant Governor's Office yesterday on a weekend trip from Washington.

Two years ago, Matheson narrowly defeated attorney and businessman John Swallow by less than 2-thousand votes. This year, the 43-year-old congressman faces virtually the same field of challengers in a district that encompasses about 60 percent of the state.

Swallow, businessman Tim Bridgewater and Salt Lake County Councilman David Wilde will fight for the G-O-P nomination at the May 8th State Republican Convention.

However, Matheson says he isn't worried, and he thinks he'll win by a bigger margin this time around.
