SALT LAKE CITY -- Elizabeth Smart's father is talking about her mission call for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Ed Smart says Elizabeth has been called to serve a mission in Paris, France. He says she has talked about serving a mission her whole life.

"I believe she really wants to go out and share her testimony with others out there, and try to do some good work," he said.
Smart says the whole family is very excited about Elizabeth's mission call.
"She's very capable of taking care of herself at this point. We feel as a family just wonderful -- we just think it's great," he told KSL Newsradio.
She is set to leave before the end of October. Smart says that will not get in the way of her possibly testifying in a hearing for her accused kidnapper, Brian David Mitchell, in two weeks.
