(AP file photo)SALT LAKE CITY -- The highest ranking Democrat in the Senate is looking to Utah to raise some re-election cash.

The idea of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid making money off Utah voters comes natural, if you ask Utah Democratic Party Chair Wayne Holland.

"He is the highest ranking active LDS member ever elected in this country to high office," Holland said.

He says Reid doesn't garner the same criticism of his religion as Mitt Romney.

"The Democratic Party's never really had any litmus test for the religion of a particular candidate," Holland said.

The August 11 get-together will be brief, but Holland expects Utah Democrats to bring in between $25,000 to $50,000 for Reid.
