GUAYNABO, Puerto Rico (AP) -- Josh Peppers scored 26 points to lead Central Florida to a 67-61 victory over Utah on Tuesday in the first round of the San Juan Shootout.

Central Florida (7-1) led from the early going and took a 28-15 advantage into halftime.

Dave Noel and Jermaine Taylor scored 11 apiece for Central Florida and Mike O'Donnell added 10.

Luke Nevill led Utah (4-6) with 20 points and 8 rebounds, and Johnnie Bryant added 15 points and 8 rebounds. Lawrence Borha had 8.

Borha's second-half 3-pointer cut the lead to 2 points, but Peppers responded with a jump shot and two free throws to help Central Florida regain control.
