(KSL News) Utah legislators are concerned about the future of Delta Airlines, especially if the company merges with US Airways.
Even though Delta has given no indication of a merger Utah officials are being proactive-- asking the Justice Department now to consider the risks such a move would pose for Utah's economy before approving a merger in the future.
Rep. Greg Curtis (R), Utah Speaker of the House: "We're simply trying to make sure that there's a heightened awareness. Make sure this works within the statutory framework. Not asking for a statutory change."
When US Airways made the offer to Delta last month they assured Governor Huntsman the move would not adversely affect Utah.
Legislators say their request to the Justice Department is just making sure that promise is kept.
