Alex Cabrero Reporting A robbery ended in a shooting in downtown Salt Lake late this afternoon.
Two men in black trench coats approached one of the owners of a jewelry store and demanded a bag he was carrying.
Just after 4:00 pm there was a man outside of the AAA Jewelry store with a bag of jewelry. Two men came up to him and demanded the bag that he was carrying. When he didn't give it up easily, the gunmen shot him, twice: once along his face, in the jaw area, and once in the hand.
The victim picks up and delivers jewelry for the store. It is unsure how the suspects knew that the victim had that jewelry. Police think they were outside waiting for him as he made his delivery, and then they attacked him.
Lt. Melody Gray, Salt Lake City Police Dept.: "We have a really vague description right now. Our victim is really traumatized. Hopefully we can get a better one out later. Right now all we have is two Hispanic males of about 5'5" medium build, and they fled the scene in a black SUV which right now we've been told had no license plates on it."
The suspects have not yet been caught.
The victim should be okay. He is being treated at the hospital right now.
