Sandra Yi Reporting A $700 vacuum almost cost a Shopko worker his life.
The suspects dragged him in their getaway car, and security cameras caught it on tape.
It happened on November 16th at the Taylorsville Shopko store at 5600 South and Redwood Road. Store surveillance video shows a man walking around the store for several minutes.
He grabbed a vacuum cleaner, then took off running. Another man in a gold Maxima was waiting for him outside. When the suspect jumped in the back seat, a Shopko security guard chased after him. That's when the driver started the car and dragged the employee.
Sgt. Rosie Rivera, Taylorsville Police Department: "So he's up on the car door and holding up on the top of the car, and he's hanging on for dear life as they're going around. He could have been run over by that vehicle or another vehicle. Redwood road is a busy street. He was just fortunate they didn't have a gun or any weapon."
Police say the worker fell off on Redwood Road and was treated at the scene for road rash.
This morning, thanks to tipsters, they arrested the suspected shoplifter, Afshan Kazemi, at a Salt Lake City motel.
Police say Kazemi has a criminal history which includes aggravated assault.
They are still looking for the driver, who is only known by his first name, Fala.
Police say the suspects have hit several Shopko stores in the County.
