KSL Newsradio's Randall Jeppeson reportingIt's not often you see a room full of Utah County mayors, commissioners and business leaders all asking for a tax increase. But they say if Utah County doesn't get commuter rail now, there's going to be a huge price to pay in 2011 when I-15 gets rebuilt.
"It could take us two to three hours to go from here to Salt Lake," said County transportation committee chairman Thone Heppler.
"If that happens, we're all in serious trouble," added Provo-Orem Chamber president Steve Densley.
Heppler and Densely are both asking voters to vote for the opinion question on the ballot. If passed, there will be a quarter-cent sales tax added and 87% of that money will go to commter rail.
