Change is coming at Syracuse Junior High School after a daytime dance got out of hand.
According to the Standard Examiner, a Valentine's dance was held during school hours for eighth and ninth graders on Feb. 13. The paper says students were told ahead of time that school policy doesn't allow a mosh pit, but 8 students ignored the warning.
A teacher decided to call off the dance. That prompted approximately 80 students to run through the halls, some shouting comments about the school. A girl was knocked over by the crowd but was not injured.
Principal Dr. Robin Bowden tells the Standard Examiner that the teacher who ended the dance didn't consult an administrator. Bowden says she counseled the teacher. Also, all future dances will be held after school hours.
