(KSL News) -- Lab results today confirmed that a two-year-old Idaho boy treated in Salt Lake did, in fact, die from complications of E. coli 0157H7 -- the strain that turned up in bagged spinach.
Kyle Algood of Chubbuck died last week at Primary Children's Hospital. He had developed the sickness several days before.
His mother says he consumed a spinach smoothie before he became ill.
More tests are needed to confirm the genetic footprint that could prove spinach was the source of his disease.
