(KSL News) Utah's largest employer, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has announced a hiring freeze.
Church officials say it's a temporary action and is the result of the economic downturn. It says the move is consistent with the principles of thrift and fiscal responsibility it encourages its members to live by.
The hiring freeze applies to all church employment worldwide, including locally at BYU. The church says exceptions may be made where needed.
