SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Utah's Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control handed out $152,000 in bonuses during the last fiscal year, most of it to managers and executives, a review of the data shows.

The Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control relies on part-time workers to till out its 600-member work force, many of them as liquor store cashiers.

But turnover is so high among part-time workers that they collect less than 25 percent of the annual bonuses, according to data collected and analyzed by The Salt Lake Tribune.

Those that do qualify earn an average bonus of $155. Full-time clerks and warehouse workers earn an average bonus of $285.

Only managers and executives were among the top 10 for bonuses, earning between $1,500 and $3,800. Another eight employees earned bonuses ranging from $1,113 to $525.
