South Salt Lake project causing head-on close-calls, residents plead for help

SALT LAKE CITY — A South Salt Lake resident said the major construction project outside his home is causing regular close calls with wrong-way drivers.

The man asked to remain anonymous, but shared multiple videos of wrong-way drivers on his street, including a school bus. He lives on West Temple between 2700 South and 3300 South, where the traffic has been reduced to a single lane travelling northbound.

"I would say within a week we had our first near head-on. And then it happened again. And again. And now we're eight or nine weeks down the road, and we're here, and we just want something done about this."

The man said he's spoken with the South Salt Lake Mayor's Office, local coding enforcement and even multiple police officers via the non-emergency dispatch line, but still the wrong-way drivers continue.

KSL has reached out to the mayor's office. We were told it is aware this is an issue. We weren't able to sit down with the office on Tuesday, but it said it does want to address these concerns. We'll have its response for you later this week.
