WEST VALLEY CITY — Human remains were found near a pond in West Valley City Tuesday evening.

A person fishing in a pond near 4220 W. Lake Park Boulevard just after 7 p.m. spotted what appeared to be bones near the pond's edge, West Valley police spokeswoman Roxeanne Vainuku said.

Police responded to the scene and confirmed the bones appeared human. The State Medical Examiner is working to determine the identity of the person.

No details on the cause or manner of death are available at this time, Vainuku said.
