LEHI — A Lehi police officer suffered minor injuries after his patrol vehicle was hit by an elderly woman who ran a red light, according to police.

The crash happened Sunday about 9:45 p.m. at the intersection of Triumph Boulevard and Thanksgiving Way in Lehi.

An "elderly woman" ran a red light and smashed into the side of a Lehi police officer's patrol SUV, according to a spokeswoman for the city. Both drivers were taken to a local hospital and released a short time later after being treated for minor injuries.

The woman, who was going an estimated 35 mph, was cited for failing to obey a traffic signal. Police say there were no signs of impairment.
