SIENA, Italy — Bruised and bloodied, Tadej Pogacar still managed to solo to victory. The defending champion recovered from a heavy crash on Saturday to become only the second cyclist to win the Strade Bianche race three times. The Slovenian finished 1 minute, 24 seconds ahead of British cyclist Tom Pidcock and 2:12 ahead of Tim Wellens of Belgium. Pogacar was heavy favorite before the race but his chances didn't look so good when he fell with just under 50 kilometers remaining. He still managed to catch back up to the front and launched his attack with 18 kilometers to go on the penultimate of 16 white, gravel sectors that give the race its name.
