ST. GEORGE — Hundreds of people lined up along the sidewalk on the south side of St. George Boulevard between Main Street and 100 East on Monday evening to protest President Donald Trump's immigration policies. Although there was a noticeable police presence during the roughly three-hour protest, it all reportedly began and ended peacefully.

A flyer for the protest said it was "supporting immigrant families" as part of "the fight for dignity and rights for all immigrants" in order to "provide the resources and assistance they need to thrive."

In addition to supportive honks from locals driving by the scene, a parade of protestors in cars bearing homemade signs and flags circled the block again and again to pump up the crowd with blaring horns, whoops and cheers.

The protest was scheduled on the flyer for 5:30-7 p.m. on Monday. St. George Police Sgt. Joe Watson said officers arrived at the Boulevard at approximately 5 p.m., where some protestors were already present. While speaking to St. George News at approximately 7:15 p.m., Watson said there had not been any incidents thus far aside from "just some traffic violations" and that the protest was lawful.
