SYRACUSE — The 31st Latter-day Saint temple in Utah, located in Syracuse, will be dedicated in June following a public open house.
The dedication on June 8 will be broadcast to chapels assigned to the Syracuse Utah Temple's district, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Tuesday.
The open house will run from May 10 to May 31, excluding Sundays.
"The ceremonies conducted inside each temple teach about the purpose of life and unite families, both past and present," a statement from the church said.
President Russell M. Nelson announced the temple in Syracuse in April 2020.
"Temples are a crowning part of the restoration of the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ," President Nelson said. "In God's goodness and generosity, He is bringing the blessings of the temple closer to his children everywhere."
Ground was broken on the temple in northwest Davis County during a ceremony in 2021.
There are currently four temples under construction in Utah, including Ephraim, Heber Valley, Lindon and Smithfield. Three other temples have been announced, but construction has not begun on those planned for Lehi, Price and West Jordan. The Provo Utah Rock Canyon Temple and the Salt Lake Temple are under renovation.
