SOUTH JORDAN — Time-lapse videos always make mundane things seem really cool, and this video of a pedestrian bridge being installed is no exception.
When it's sped up, it looks like a little toy play set with a crane moving a plastic bridge, not a several-ton metal bridge that spans a multiple-lane highway.
The video shows the Utah Department of Transportation installing a pedestrian bridge over Bangerter Highway near the 9800 South intersection on Nov. 22.
"Sorry, we couldn't come out last night we were busy installing a new pedestrian bridge over Bangerter Highway," UDOT said on X.

The bridge will open next year, providing safe access to neighborhoods, Elk Meadows Elementary School and Elk Ridge Middle School.
The pedestrian bridge is part of a series of construction projects along Bangerter Highway that UDOT is conducting to eliminate stoplights and convert intersections into freeway-style interchanges. UDOT said the road is one of the valley's largest north-to-south corridors and moves an average of 60,000 vehicles a day.
