LOGAN – The NCAA's early signing period for 2025 recruits opened up and Utah State brought in 20 new recruits as part of the 2025 class — 17 coming from the high school pipeline.

While Utah State had most of its players locked in prior to the signing day, it came with a caveat as most of these players are not going to be committing to interim head coach Nate Dreiling, but to the university with some question marks to be answered.

With that, the Aggies were presented with a weaker recruiting class, tied with their lowest-ranked recruiting class in 2021, and the lowest overall since the team joined the Mountain West, according to 247Sports.

Dreiling is not likely to be retained as the head coach since Utah State has been rumored to interview other candidates for the position, but Dreiling said they were transparent with recruits coming into the recruiting year.

"You better be truthful and be up front, especially when you are dealing with a scholarship," Dreiling said. "The parents loved it and that is why we are going to be at 24 to 25 commits. The parents trusted us and painted a best-case scenario for them."

An emphasis for this year's class was the offensive line, where Utah State signed five offensive linemen — a quarter of the total class. All five offensive linemen were signed from the state of Utah, with a signing from legacy recruit Tommy "Rock" Olsen, who's great uncle is former Utah State legend and NFL Hall of Famer Merlin Olsen.

"We knew we had to sign a bunch this year (linemen)," Dreiling said. "The state of Utah put out so many top talents, and we knew we could sign pretty much our whole line in the state."

The highest-rated player from Utah State's class is Nikko Boncore, a wide receiver from Centennial High in Arizona. Boncore is the 19th-best prospect in the state of Arizona, according to 247Sports, despite playing just six games his senior year.

The Aggies also brought in quarterback Dalton Anderson, who is the 29th-best recruit in the state of Washington. He threw for nearly 5,000 yards, 54 touchdowns and just six picks during his high school career.

Utah State signed three players from the junior college level, including three-star linebacker Tymere Burton (East Mississippi Community College), linebacker Mataira Brown (Snow College) and tight end Kache Kaio (Snow College).
