SALT LAKE CITY — Check back for the latest scores from all the Week 3 high school football games across the state.
KSL.com Sports' Game of the Week: Riverton at Brighton
Why did we choose this game?
The Brighton Bengals are 2-0 on the season and ranked No. 8 in the KSL.com Top 20+1 rankings ahead of Week 3 action. The Bengals are in a loaded Region 6 in 5A, but have the talent to be one of the best teams in the region.
Already knocking off a 6A team last week in a 34-21 win over Syracuse, Brighton is looking to do it again against 6A Riverton, who is 1-1 on the season after a Week 2 loss to a top 4A contender Ridgeline.
The Silverwolves will be looking to bounce back on the road, but Brighton is a formidable opponent that won't go down without a fight, especially if Mason Haertel has his way. Last week, Haertel rushed for 174 yards and two touchdowns in a dominant ground game for the Bengals.
Brighton could set itself up well ahead of region play with a 3-0 start to the season, providing some much-needed confidence before bouts against Olympus, Alta and West.
