PARIS — The sport of modern pentathlon is getting rid of its horses after more than a century and a notorious incident when a coach struck a horse at the last Games. It's bringing in "American Ninja Warrior"-style obstacle courses for the Los Angeles Games in 2028. It's a quirky sport which was modeled on the exploits of a dashing soldier on horseback behind enemy lines when it debuted at the 1912 Olympics. Athletes and officials have been feuding ahead of Paris Olympic competition starting Thursday.
