PARIS — Drizzles, sprinkles and then full-on, nonstop rain drenched the opening ceremony of Paris Olympics. It was an unusually wet July day for the unprecedented open-air event on the Seine River. Many spectators danced and cheered as athletes from around the world paraded on boats down the river. But others gave up and sought shelter as the rain intensified throughout the four-hour event. The ceremony was always planned to go ahead — rain or not. There was a silver lining, though, with temperatures staying relatively warm throughout the evening.
