LINDON — A Lindon man who police say shot at another vehicle after apparently being cut off is now facing criminal charges in the road rage case.
Graham Alejandro Platner, 21, was charged Thursday in 4th District Court with attempted murder, a first-degree felony; and discharge of a firearm, a third-degree felony.
About 8:20 p.m. Monday, a woman and her friend were driving on I-15 near Pleasant Grove when they "heard a loud pop and the front passenger window shattered," according to charging documents.
The two followed the driver of the other vehicle and got a picture of his license plate. On an off-ramp, the driver, Platner, got out and confronted the victims while claiming he didn't do anything, and then drove away, the charges state.
Investigators later found a bullet in the "front passenger compartment" of the victims' vehicle.
Utah Highway Patrol troopers got the license plate number from the victims and went to Platner's Lindon residence, where they were met by his mother. She said that her son had "told her someone cut him off on the freeway and flipped him off so (Platner) shot at them," according to the charges.
When troopers questioned him, he "stated he saw a man and a woman in the other vehicle and shot in their direction but did not know where the shot landed," the charges say.
Platner was arrested at the conclusion of the interview.
