BLUE CREEK, Box Elder County — Troopers have identified a man killed Tuesday morning when his car went off the interstate and rolled into a ditch in Box Elder County.
A passerby reported a vehicle in a ditch off I-84 at Blue Creek, 20 miles northwest of Tremonton, about 5:45 a.m. A statement from the Utah Highway Patrol said troopers arrived just after 6 a.m. and located a Toyota Sequoia with extensive damage.
The car had rolled down an embankment off the side of the road, and officials said the driver was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover. Emil Tuncel, 22, was the sole occupant of the car and died in the crash. Police did not say where he was from.
UHP said further investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen out of Weber County around midnight, and the deceased driver matched the description of the person who allegedly stole the vehicle.
Troopers are investigating what caused the crash. Some of the road lanes were closed for about three hours near the crash scene.
