KANSAS — I live in a neighborhood that sometimes gets hit with high winds. Especially this time of year, as the seasons change, the wind comes roaring down off the mountain and shakes our house so much that we sometimes wonder whether the roof will hold.

How windy does it get? Multiple homes on our street have had their garage doors dented. Others have even had their windows shattered. It can be downright scary during the worst storms. These high winds usually top out at around 70 miles per hour. So, I can't even imagine how rough it must be to get hit with winds substantially stronger than that.

Check out the wild storm that hit the eagle family in this video.

A camera was set up to watch a pair of eagles named Ellie and Harvey as they took care of their eaglets in Kansas. Because the eaglets weren't old enough to fly, the family was stuck in the tree for the foreseeable future. When a major storm blew in, Harvey holds on while Ellie hunkers in the nest to protect and comfort her eaglets. With gusts reaching 80 mph, it looks like a terrifying scene. Yet, the mother eagle never wavered.

I think it's touching to see the dedication of this brave eagle. Faced with danger, she rode out the storm with her babies instead of flying to safety.
