TOOELE — A test drive turned into a three-hour kidnapping on Tuesday that started in West Jordan and ended in Tooele, according to police.
Kimber Lee Emanoff, 30, was booked into the Tooele County Jail for investigation of kidnapping, burglary and joyriding.
According to police, Emanoff randomly found a man in West Jordan who was selling his vehicle. She asked to take a test drive and the man went along with her.
But Tooele police say Emanoff then drove all over Salt Lake County and eventually headed to Tooele.
"The victim requested Emanoff to let them out several times but Emanoff would not," a police booking affidavit states.
Because Emanoff was allegedly driving erratically, police say the man was afraid to do anything that would potentially cause her to crash.
About three hours after the test drive began, Emanoff pulled up to a Tooele residence belonging to someone she knows and broke into the garage, according to police. By that time, the man's relatives had been trying to find him.
Tooele police arrived at the home where the burglary was allegedly taking place, found items taken from the garage that were loaded into the car that was being test-driven, and arrested Emanoff.
